Agri-Energy - Air Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft air quality permit for Agri-Energy in Luverne.
Agri-Energy produces ethanol and other biofuels, including sustainable aviation fuel, at its fermentation and distillation facility in Luverne.
The draft air permit reissues the facility’s air quality permit and authorizes installation of new distillation equipment. No emissions increase is expected at the facility because several pieces of equipment have been permanently removed. The draft permit adds new federal requirements related to the distillation equipment and existing processes. The draft permit also requires new performance testing to verify assumptions used to quantify emissions and determine federal requirement applicability.
An air quality operating permit is required for certain existing facilities or the construction of new facilities that have the potential to emit a significant level of any regulated pollutant. The permit includes all requirements for operation and procedures, applicable rules, emission standards, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. If additional conditions change and modifications are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
