Dakota County - Hastings Campus - Air Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft air quality permit for Dakota County - Hastings Campus.
Dakota County operates a government center complex in Hastings. Emissions come from fuel combustion in the utility boilers, heating and ventilation equipment, and emergency generators.
The draft air permit authorizes replacement of four existing boilers with four new boilers and replacement of one existing emergency generator with a new emergency generator. The draft permit limits nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide emissions; requires testing for nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide; and requires monitoring of the equipment operation.
An air quality operating permit is required for certain existing facilities or the construction of new facilities that have the potential to emit a significant level of any regulated pollutant. The permit includes all requirements for operation and procedures, applicable rules, emission standards, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. If additional conditions change and modifications are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
