Wilderness Point Resort Wastewater Treatment Facility - Wastewater Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft wastewater permit for Wilderness Point Resort's wastewater treatment facility.
Wilderness Point Resort Villas Association seeks to modify the water quality permit for its wastewater treatment facility near Pequot Lakes. The facility has proposed upgrades to its wastewater facility in two stages as development of the resort progresses. In the next stage of construction, the facility will be designed to treat 12,800 gallons per day. In the final stage, the facility will be designed to treat 18,000 gallons per day.
The draft wastewater permit adjusts construction details such as design components, reporting of solids from septic tanks, and the amount of flow treated at each stage of construction.
Water quality permits establish specific limits and requirements to protect Minnesota's surface and groundwater quality. Permits are regularly reviewed and updated as they expire, allowing the MPCA to incorporate new information about the impacts of pollutants on the environment in future permits. Permits are enforced through a combination of self-reporting and compliance monitoring.
