Tostenson Transfer Station - Solid Waste Permit

We invite you to comment on the draft solid waste permit for Tostenson Transfer Station in Chippewa County.


Tostenson Inc. has applied for a reissued solid waste facility permit for its transfer station near Montevideo. 

The draft permit authorizes a capacity increase to accept and transfer up to 9,400 tons of mixed municipal solid waste per year and up to 2,300 tons of construction and demolition debris per year. The facility will continue to accept solid waste storage and recycling items. 


All active landfills, solid waste, and recycling facilities in Minnesota are required to have a solid waste permit. A solid waste permit is good for 10 years. If conditions change and modifications to the permit are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
