Lake County (CSAH 7 realignment and bridge replacement) - 401 Water Quality Certification
We invite you to comment on the draft 401 Water Quality Certification for the CSAH 7 (Cramer Road) realignment project in Lake County.
Lake County proposes to replace bridge #7909, a load-posted 20-foot-long-by-8-foot-wide steel arch culvert that conveys Nine Mile Creek under Cramer Road, with a double box culvert 50 feet to the east of the existing bridge. The new bridge will consist of two 12-foot-by-8-foot pre-cast concrete box culverts and a 36-inch-diameter floodplain culvert to the east of the main structure.
The bridge will be replaced in conjunction with a re-alignment of the road south of its current alignment to meet county state aid highway design and safety standards. The project will impact 0.22 acres of wetlands, which the county will replace at a 1:1 ratio.
A 401 Water Quality Certification is required when an individual, business, or property owner proposes construction-related activities near a navigable lake, river, stream, or adjacent wetland. The MPCA reviews projects to ensure they will not violate Minnesota's more protective water quality standards. The 401 certification becomes an enforceable component of the associated federal license or permits issued under the Clean Water Act.
