University of Minnesota (Fay Thompson Center) - Hazardous Waste Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft hazardous waste permit for the University of Minnesota's Fay Thompson Center.
University of Minnesota is seeking a permit renewal for its hazardous waste storage and reclamation facility at the Fay Thompson Center for Environmental Management in Minneapolis for all types of chemical waste generated by the university.
The permit authorizes University of Minnesota to continue storage of hazardous waste and to safely manage a wide variety of hazardous wastes.
A hazardous waste permit is required for facilities that treat, store, and/or dispose of substances that are classified as hazardous waste by the federal government. The hazardous waste permit requirements include operating conditions, recordkeeping and reporting, monitoring, inspections and site security, personnel training, emergency prevention and response procedures, and financial assurance. Hazardous waste permits are issued for a five-year period, and may be renewed or modified. Permits are enforced through routine inspections by the MPCA, EPA, and/or counties in the Twin Cities metro area.
