Cottonwood County Sanitary Landfill

We invite you to comment on the draft solid waste permit for Cottonwood County Sanitary Landfill in Cottonwood County.


Cottonwood County has applied for a reissued solid waste facility permit for its facility in Windom. The facility is designed to accept mixed municipal solid waste, industrial waste, and construction and demolition waste. In addition, the facility accepts yard waste for composting and recyclable materials for temporary storage and transfer to other solid waste permitted facilities.  


All active landfills, solid waste, and recycling facilities in Minnesota are required to have a solid waste permit. A solid waste permit is good for 10 years. If conditions change and modifications to the permit are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
