Mactac - Air Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft air quality permit for Mactac in Minneapolis.
Mactac manufactures pressure-sensitive film stock and transfer adhesives in Minneapolis. The facility operates three coating lines, coating dryers fueled by natural gas or propane, and six corona treaters. Emissions from solvent-based coatings are controlled using a thermal oxidizer.
The draft permit replaces the facility’s Part 70 individual air permit with a state individual air permit following a change in federal policy. It imposes more restrictive limits on solvent emissions and does not authorize any construction or new emissions.
An air quality operating permit is required for certain existing facilities or the construction of new facilities that have the potential to emit a significant level of any regulated pollutant. The permit includes all requirements for operation and procedures, applicable rules, emission standards, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. If additional conditions change and modifications are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
