Sanimax (South St. Paul) - Air Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft air quality permit for Sanimax USA Inc.
Sanimax recycles animal, vegetable, and food processing residues at its facility in South St. Paul. The facility operates cookers, boilers, dryers, and milling equipment.
The draft air permit requires less stringent limits and more frequent testing for particulate matter emissions related to the cooking and milling processes at the facility. The change was made to account for the increased potential particulate matter emission related to replacing an old cooker and the old milling equipment with a new cooker and new milling equipment.
In addition to these changes, the draft permit includes a new venturi scrubber that the facility installed to control odor emissions.
An air quality operating permit is required for certain existing facilities or the construction of new facilities that have the potential to emit a significant level of any regulated pollutant. The permit includes all requirements for operation and procedures, applicable rules, emission standards, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. If additional conditions change and modifications are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
