Henning Transfer Station and Demolition Landfill - Solid Waste Permit

We invite you to comment on the draft solid waste permit for Henning Transfer Station and Demolition Landfill in Otter Tail County.


Henning Transfer Station and Demolition Landfill has applied for a modified and reissued solid waste facility permit for its solid waste management complex in Henning, where it buries demolition debris, transfers mixed municipal solid waste, collects some recyclable items, stores wastes prior to beneficial use, and composts yard waste. 

The draft permit authorizes the area for demolition debris burial to continue on 8.2 acres with a total volume of 321,425 cubic yards. The draft permit also authorizes the construction of a new transfer station building on the site. 


All active landfills, solid waste, and recycling facilities in Minnesota are required to have a solid waste permit. A solid waste permit is good for 10 years. If conditions change and modifications to the permit are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
