U.S. Postal Service (Eagan) - Air Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft air quality permit for the U.S. Postal Service's management support service center in Eagan.
The United States Postal Service operates a management support service center in an office building in Eagan with highly redundant electrical systems. The facility uses natural gas-fired boilers and diesel-fired emergency generators.
The draft air permit authorizes installation of four new emergency generators with operational limits to reduce nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide emissions. The draft air permit establishes new operational limits on the existing emergency generators to further reduce nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide emissions.
An air quality operating permit is required for certain existing facilities or the construction of new facilities that have the potential to emit a significant level of any regulated pollutant. The permit includes all requirements for operation and procedures, applicable rules, emission standards, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. If additional conditions change and modifications are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
