Sanctuary Homeowners Association - Wastewater Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft wastewater permit for the Sanctuary Homeowners Association's wastewater treatment facility.
The Sanctuary Homeowners Association in Lake Elmo applied for a modified water quality permit for its wastewater treatment facility. The facility is designed to treat 20,770 gallons per day.
The draft wastewater permit establishes a compliance schedule for proposed construction to upgrade the treatment capability of the facility. One internal monitoring station has been removed from the permit and replaced with a weekly monitoring requirement. The permit includes no new limits or monitoring requirements.
Water quality permits - or National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits - establish specific limits and requirements to protect Minnesota's surface and groundwater quality. Permits are regularly reviewed and updated as they expire, allowing the MPCA to incorporate new information about the impacts of pollutants on the environment in future permits. Permits are enforced through a combination of self-reporting and compliance monitoring.
