Swift County - Solid Waste Management Plan
We invite you to comment on the solid waste management plan for Swift County.
Swift County submitted a solid waste management plan to the MPCA that proposes an integrated solid waste management system. The solid waste management plan states that over the 10-year planning period of 2025-2034, Swift County will:
- generate approximately 10,500 tons of municipal solid waste annually
- send waste to the Dakota Sanitary Landfill, located near Gwinner, North Dakota, for final disposal
- reach a recycling rate of approximately 52% through county-wide curbside collection as well as rural drop sites
- facilitate waste reduction, recycling, and segregation of problem wastes from the waste stream
- collect household hazardous waste at its annual collection day and twice-weekly dropoff at the regional collection site
- encourage and support yard waste management at four drop-off sites throughout the county
Minnesota counties and solid waste management districts outside the seven-county metro area are required to prepare and implement detailed solid waste management plans every 10 years. Visit our website for more information about Solid waste management plans.
