CHS Mankato - Air Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft air quality permit for CHS Mankato.
CHS produces soybean oil and soybean co-products at its oilseed processing plant in Mankato. The facility produces air emissions from the mills and extractors used to process soybeans.
The draft air permit reissues the facility’s operating permit and authorizes the replacement of an existing boiler with a new boiler and the addition of four new non-emergency engines. The draft air permit limits emissions from the combustion of natural gas and requires monitoring and testing.
An air quality operating permit is required for certain existing facilities or the construction of new facilities that have the potential to emit a significant level of any regulated pollutant. The permit includes all requirements for operation and procedures, applicable rules, emission standards, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. If additional conditions change and modifications are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
