Whispering Ridge Homeowners Association of Zimmerman - Wastewater Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft wastewater permit for the Whispering Ridge Homeowners Association of Zimmerman's wastewater treatment facility.
The Whispering Ridge Homeowners Association of Zimmerman has applied for a modification to the water quality permit for construction at its wastewater treatment facility in Livonia Township, Sherburne County. The facility is designed to treat a total of 45,450 gallons per day.
The draft modified wastewater permit includes a voluntary construction schedule to install equipment at the facility’s east side system. The change was made to address the ineffective removal of nitrate in the current treatment process and to meet a limit on nitrogen at the end of the treatment process that this modification adds to the permit. The facility’s west side system will not change.
Water quality permits - or National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits - establish specific limits and requirements to protect Minnesota's surface and groundwater quality. Permits are regularly reviewed and updated as they expire, allowing the MPCA to incorporate new information about the impacts of pollutants on the environment in future permits. Permits are enforced through a combination of self-reporting and compliance monitoring.
