City of Harmony - Wastewater Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft wastewater permit for the City of Harmony's wastewater treatment plant.
The City of Harmony is applying for a permit modification for its wastewater treatment plant which discharges treated wastewater to Pine Creek. The draft modified permit authorizes the installation of a flow meter and the replacement of the chlorine disinfection equipment now in use at the treatment plant with ultraviolet disinfection equipment. The draft permit authorizes no other changes at the facility.
Water quality permits - or National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits - establish specific limits and requirements to protect Minnesota's surface and groundwater quality. Permits are regularly reviewed and updated as they expire, allowing the MPCA to incorporate new information about the impacts of pollutants on the environment in future permits. Permits are enforced through a combination of self-reporting and compliance monitoring.
