Frontenac Heritage Acres 2nd and 3rd Additions - Wastewater Permit

We invite you to comment on the draft wastewater permit for the wastewater treatment facility for the second and third addition to Frontenac Heritage Acres in Florence Township.

Frontenac Heritage Acres applied for a reissued water quality permit for the wastewater treatment facility for the second and third additions to the housing development. The facility is designed to treat a total of 27,635 gallons per day and discharges to two septic drainfields.

The draft wastewater permit includes limits and monitoring requirements for two separate subsurface drainfield treatment systems and compliance schedules for flow monitoring and nitrogen compliance.

Water quality permits - or State Disposal System (SDS) permits - establish specific limits and requirements to protect Minnesota's groundwater quality. Permits are regularly reviewed and updated as they expire, allowing the MPCA to incorporate new information about the impacts of pollutants on the environment in future permits. Permits are enforced through a combination of self-reporting and compliance monitoring.
