Great River Energy (Lakefield Junction Station) - Air Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft air quality permit for Great River Energy's Lakefield Junction Station.
Great River Energy owns and operates a simple-cycle combustion turbine generating plant in Lakefield Junction. The facility consists of six combustion turbines and three emergency engines.
The draft permit reissues the air quality operating permit and does not authorize any new construction or emissions. The draft air permit limits particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and carbon monoxide for the combustion turbines and emergency engines. It also requires recordkeeping of fuel type and usage limits.
An air quality operating permit is required for certain existing facilities or the construction of new facilities that have the potential to emit a significant level of any regulated pollutant. The permit includes all requirements for operation and procedures, applicable rules, emission standards, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. If additional conditions change and modifications are necessary, the MPCA may review and amend the permit.
